New skills

I've been finding the girls in various states of undress lately when I
get them up from nap. Luckily though, they have not removed their
diapers. Yet.

My first sewing project

A while back I mentioned my new hobby, sewing. You can read about it here. Well here it is, the first thing I've sewn. It's a mini bag. The strap on Maggie's dance bag broke a while ago and she hasn't gotten a new bag yet. I was going to buy her a new bag, but thought I could make one instead. A simple little tote bag shouldn't be too hard. The thing is though I hadn't even attempted to sew with my new machine yet. So I took some scrap fabric I had and attempted to make a mini version of this bag that I'm planning on making. Basically I wanted to know if I could do this before I messed up the fabric Maggie picked out. Plus this would serve as my introduction to how my machine works. And I did it. It's really small and I didn't press the fabric at any point, something that I know you're supposed to do. But again, this was just a practice. But I do know that the prewashing and pressing of the material is something I'm not going to want to skip. It will be especially important for things like the strap and the cuff.

Crafty blog

My friend Heidi from high school runs this cute little craft blog that I enjoy reading. I have gotten some really cute ideas from her and one day, once I have some real free time, I'm going to actually make something. In the meantime, I'll be pleased just reading about the things she comes up with. And right now, on her blog, she's doing a give-a-way. Check it out, the prize is a very cute nautical themed clock.
